QOF
points:
The
QOF points system is used by the government to reward your
family doctor for doing the job which they have already
been paid to do... that is to care for your health for
which your GP will receive a salary of approximately
106,000 per year.[1]
The government removes the ability of the GP to decide on
clinical issues, by creating the guidelines to meet
government targets and declaring them to be mandatory.
● QOF is an acronym for the Quality & Outcomes
Framework
● QOF points are 1050 points (targets) by which your GP
gets paid a bonus
● Every QOF point met means an extra £120 to your family
doctor
● The average extra payment made to GP practices in one
year is £121,260 for 1010.5 QOF points.
● Statins fall into the clinical domain which is worth 550
QOF points or £66,000
● Annual average extra payments for this domain were for
534.2 QOF points or £64,104
● GPs are being paid substantial bonuses to medicate people
with statins... for life
● Add average QOF points to average GP salary results in
£227,260 for single-handed GP
● The QOF system is now a part of every GP contract and the
guidelines are mandatory
● GPs are being paid to meet targets rather than think for
themselves or what is really best for their patients
● The government cholesterol treatment targets are based on
junk science
● GPs are kept in line by huge bonus payments being paid on
top of their excellent salaries
● Losing £64,104 from the annual practice income (if
targets are not met) is unlikely to be a voluntary GP
choice
